Conference organizer Reed Midem officially canceled MipTV, the long-running TV market held in Cannes, France.
The cancellation is one of several for Reed Midem, with MipDoc and MipFormats also being nixed due to the corona virus.
Canneseries, the annual Reed Midem co-branded drama festival has been postponed to October, and the Mipim real estate showcase is scheduled to take place in June concurrently with MIDEM.
MipTV wasn’t merely postponed, due to it’s scheduling against Mipcom market (slated for October) as well as the logistics of rescheduling its large quanity of distinguished and high-profile attendies.
Reed Midem explained ““In the current context, many of our clients have expressed concerns about travelling at this time. Rescheduling MipTV in the coming months is not feasible, so the most appropriate course of action is to cancel MipTV for 2020.
“The well-being of our clients, partners and staff is our priority. We are grateful to clients for their support and constructive input during this challenging period. We look forward to welcoming everyone to Mipcom (from) October 12-15 and we are delighted that Canneseries will be at our side again this year.”
MipTV keynotes included Sony Pictures Television president Wayne Garvie and Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon.
