The Production Music Association issued an official statement regarding the Discovery Networks / Direct License issue. It reads :
Discovery Networks' recent policy change essentially ensures that composers and publishers will not get fair value for the use of their music.
What they are demanding from composers and music publishers goes against our core values, is shamelessly unfair and has the potential to harm the future of the entire music community if widely adopted.
The PMA is currently working closely with the NMPA, the PRO’s and other organizations on this issue and will do whatever it can in order to protect and preserve the value of music.
The "big three" American PROs have yet to weigh in.
