GEMA released 10 "ethical and legal principles" for dealing with generative AI in music. Here's a basic framework of the principles. You're encouraged to read the charter in its entirety at the link above.
1) Digital humanism - AI should add and enhance the creative process, not replace the process.
2) Protection of intellectual property - generative AI must respect the copyright protection of the human author and give them the right to decide on the use of their works within the legal framework
3) Fair participation in value creation - A fair compensation scheme must be created and upheld for the new sources of income that AI opens up.
4) Transparency - Disclosure of specific content used for training. Puts onus on AI providers to verify which content can be used freely for training, and to pro-actively request licenses from rights management associations.
5) Negotiations at eye level - Intelligent regulatory framework that allows rights holders to negotiate fairly with large digital corporations.
6) Respecting moral rights - Each person must retain the rights to one's own voice, name and image.
7) Respecting cultural diversity - must not lead to cultural expression and social trends being homogenized. Cultural and linguistic diversity must be upheld.
8) No bypassing of EU rules - Large digital corporations must respect the rules of the EU in the age of globalization.
9) Sustainability - High energy consumption necessitates providers of AI technology take action to safe energy and increase efficiency.
10) Responsibility - Generative AI must accord with ethical and legal principles. AI providers must take responsibility as opposed to a "safe harbor" liability waiver, shifting responsibility to end users.
