Arbitration panel awards SESAC with 10.4% increase in US radio royalty rate.

In an ongoing dispute with the Radio Music Licensing Committee (RMLC), arbitrators ruled a rate increase from .2557% to .2824% representing a 10.4% dollar-for-dollar increase. The ruling is retro-active to January 1st 2023.

“The arbitration award reflects another failure of the RMLC to impose regulated rates on SESAC since SESAC and the RMLC concluded their settlement in 2015,” SESAC President and COO Scott Jungmichel

Amid claims by the RMLC that SESAC was trying to double the royalty rate, Ed Atsinger (RMLC Chairman) reported the 10% increase as a victory for RMLC represented radio stations. Adding :

“The RMLC intends to continue to defend and protect the interests of its members at a time when all of the performing right organizations are seeking to aggressively increase their fees.”
